Check your player’s rating for the previous year
At the beginning of each season, club administrators (or match secretaries) must check their players’ ratings from the previous season. The rating for a player at the end of a season determines where they can play in the next season. You must check whether a player is a recognised member of a particular team, and ensure they do not inadvertently play for a team lower than their established rating. (They can play for a lower team – see paragraph 8 below).
1. Login to your personal LTA account.
2. Select the club administrator icon on the left of the screen – you will now see your club page with your entry in the NECLTL.
3. Click on the NECLTL link and you will see your club’s summary page with the number of teams and players etc.
4. Click on ‘Active Players’ on the left hand menu. You will now see a list of your players and which teams they have played for in the previous season.
5. Any player who has played for one or more teams is highlighted. These are the players you need to check.
6. You must calculate the number of times each of the highlighted players played for each different team.
7. Any player who played 5 or more matches FOR ONE TEAM ONLY in the previous season is an established member of that team in the new season. This is their rating.
8. In the new season, a player can play for a team lower than their rating BUT ONLY IF they play the majority of their matches for that lower team.
9. If a player played for TWO DIFFERENT TEAMS in a season, they became a recognised member of the higher team after their 5th appearance for that team. This is their rating for the next season.
10. If a player played for a COMBINATION OF MORE THAN TWO TEAMS in the last season, on their fifth appearance they could not play for a team below the lowest of that set of 5. After each further match, their rating is based upon their highest set of 5 matches and they cannot play for a lower team. This lowest team is their rating which applies to the new season, although see paragraph 8.
11. A player who played for a combination of teams in the last season, but did not play 5 or more matches, remains able to play for any team in the next season. However, in the spirit of the game we expect a player to play in a team which is most suited to their ability.
