The sad news has been received that Peter Jackson, aged 85, current League Executive Committee Member and past President of 17 years, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on 25th. November whilst in Manchester. Peter was a great sports enthusiast and player, his interests were cricket, tennis, football and he was an avid Manchester United fan. He was a member of Woodside Tennis Club at High Lane, having joined in 1956, playing competitive tennis for many years before retiring in 1992. He joined the League Committee in 1976 as Honorary Treasurer becoming President in 2001 before standing down in 2018 and had attended the League AGM on Zoom the evening before his passing. His enthusiasm was infectious and would always express a firm view on any topic offered. Over the years he made a great contribution to matters in Committee including serving on the Disputes Sub-Committee from its inception in 2002. He enjoyed a good pint. At our Executive Committee Meeting the other evening a chair was provided for him with a bottle of beer and a glass with many reminiscences expressed. Thank you, Peter, for your contribution over the years, we will remember you with warm affection. Our condolences to your Family and friends.
