It is with great sadness we write to inform you of the passing of Bob Peel.
Bob was a past Chairman of the NECLTL and valued Executive Committee member for over 32 years.
Bob, 84 years, sadly passed away on 1st July following a short illness.
Bob joined the NECLTL league committee in 1986 and was responsible for running various initiatives including the Acton Cup competition for 8 years, before becoming Chairman in 2004. Bob believed in fairness, attention to detail, was an active member of the disciplinary executive, managed sponsorship and ran a steady ship during his 12 years as Chairman of NECLTL. During this time Bob received the Unsung Hero Award for services to Tennis from the Cheshire LTA in 2015.
Bob was a life long, active member of Didsbury Tennis Club for 49 years. Bob liked to get things done and held positions including Ground Secretary, Membership Secretary, General Secretary and Chairman. Didsbury Tennis Club are indebted to Bob’s significant contribution to the running of the club over his tenure and was one of their finest members.
On behalf of the NECLTL committee we would like to take this opportunity to thank Bob for his contribution to NECLTL and for his many years of loyal service.
We will remember him with fondness, a person of high integrity, detail and a true gentleman. Our condolences go to his wife Mollie, family and friends.
The funeral was held at St James Church, Didsbury M20 2RQ on Tuesday 25th July.
